GTOT e.V. (Society for Turkic, Ottoman and Turkish Studies) and the University of Bamberg invite scholars from all over the world working in the fields of history, linguistics, philology, literary studies, social sciences, anthropology, and political sciences on Turkey and the Turkic World to participate in the third European Convention on Turkic, Ottoman and Turkish Studies.
“History and Development of Modern Persian Literature” by Bozorg Alavi written in 1964 is now available in our open access collection MENAdoc.
Professor Alavi describes the evolution of Persian prose and poetry since the beginning of the 20th century with a brief introduction on 19th century developments against the background of political and social change.
The Racecourse of Literature – An-Nawāǧī and His Contemporaries
The conference deals with the writings of Shamsaddīn an-Nawāǧī (ca. 1386–1455) and those of his contemporaries such as Ibn Ḥiǧǧa al-Ḥamawī and Ibn Ḥaǧar al-ʿAsqalānī. An-Nawāǧī has been famous for his literary anthologies of love poetry and wine poetry.
The project “Bibliotheca Arabica” has been approved for the University of Leipzig and the Saxon University of Sciences, aiming to develop and compile fundamental knowledge on literary and scientific production and practice between the 12th and 19th century.
