Prof. Dr. Jürgen Paul was professor of Islamic Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg from 1995 to 2013. On the occasion of his 70th birthday, he is now honoured with the commemorative publication “Aus den Tiefenschichten der Texte” [1].
The contributions to this anthology explore various aspects of the Turkish-Iranian world from Islamisation since the 7th century until the present day by means of case studies.
All articles are related to the research interests of Prof. Jürgen Paul. His students, co-workers, colleagues and friends show how his extraordinary talent in engaging with textual sources influences their research.
The book with the full title: „Aus den Tiefenschichten der Texte: Beiträge zur turko-iranischen Welt von der Islamisierung zur Gegenwart“ [1] was edited by Nader Purnaqcheband and Florian Saalfeld. A copy donated by the authors is now in the collection of our library.
