Istanbul Urban Layers is a Digital Humanities Project by Nil Tuzcu and the Harvard Mellon Urban Initiative. It enables a direct comparison between maps and aerial photographs of Istanbul in a time ranging vom 1853-1989. The project is still in development, so checking on it from time to time is definitely worth it.
