Arabic Studies delve into the arabic-islamic history and arabic literary culture, as well as their relationship.

As a part of Oriental Studies, they are closely connected to Islamic Studies, though they are more specialised on the philological aspects of the language development of Ancient Arabic, Classical High Arabic, Middle Arabic, Modern High Arabic and its dialects.

Arabic poetry and prose literature from pre-islamic times until the present and religious, historical and geographical texts within the islamic culture, but also in Jewish and Christian literature in Arabic are all taken into account.
