subject-specific circle of users

The following institutions conduct specialised or regional research on the spectrum of the Specialised Information Service for Middle Eastern, North African and Islamic Studies. These universities, libraries and research institutions therefore belong to the so-called "user group" of our licence products.

Latest licences via proxy server

Researchers at these institutions can access our latest licence offers quickly and unbureaucratically. Access is automatically authorised from the networks of our user group via a proxy server - campus-wide and via VPN without login. This service is currently mainly used for temporary test access to new licence products.

The proxy server is operated by Competence Centre for Licensing (KfL) - our service partner for the licensing of electronic products.

Individual users

Researchers who are not currently affiliated with any of the above-mentioned institutions can also benefit from our services. Those who belong to disciplines of our Range of subjects or related areas has the option of registering as an "individual user".

Interested parties must register for this register with the FID licence portal. The prerequisites for access as an individual user are residence in Germany or membership of a German research project.

Registration as an "individual user" is only required in the rarest of cases. For members of the above-mentioned institutions, access via their networks is the preferred method.

national licences

The Specialised Information Service for the Middle East has been able to release almost all of the products acquired to date as a national licence. They are therefore available to all German researchers. Redirection via the proxy server is unnecessary for these FID licences.

Individual users must register with the national licences portal. This registration is then valid for all national licences.
