Sezgin Online

Sezgin Online consists of volumes 1-9 of the renowned History of Arabic literature (GAS) by Fuat Sezgin, the largest and most modern bio-bibliography on the Arabic literary tradition in general and on the history of science and technology in the Islamic world in particular.

Platform of the provider

The History of Arabic literature is an indispensable research tool for Middle Eastern and Islamic studies. The service contains the contents of 9 of the original volumes (totalling 4,959 printed pages) and is searchable in full text. Sezgin Online II consists of volumes 10-17 of the GAS. These volumes were originally printed in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Our Specialised Information Service has announced a test phase for this product until 30 September 2023 agreed for our user group. If the feedback is positive, we would aim to obtain a permanent licence.

Sezgin Online provides bio-bibliographical information on famous personalities (writers, poets, philosophers, doctors, scientists, linguists, etc.) from the Islamic world in the following fields:

  • the history of Islamic medicine (vol. 3)

Access is available to members of the institutions of our user group available until 31 March 2023. Authentication is carried out using the IP numbers of the respective network.
